First annual family APPLE Picking excursion!

Saturday morning around 10 am we decided that despite the overcast/rainy forcast that we would venture out to Bellivue Orchards . So we pack the kids up and of course the worlds largest snack bag and hit the road. It is about 30 minutes from home at least . We only had to stop once at a church parking lot to let weston go pee. Then we carried on.  We got there in our rubber boots and possible rain gear, only to peel half of it off because it was smoldering out. When we figured out how it worked we waited in line for a wagon to pull up and we climbed on. And off to the fields we went.
(cute picture if only my head was turned a bit then you would see my messy pony tail and it wouldnt look so awful)

enjoying the wagon ride!
When we reached  the field and got off the wagon we went and bought our bags. 1 small and 1 large . Pretty good price actually. Pat thought it was high but for a large bag that held at least 20-25 apples it was only 9$. It was at least double if not triple the amount of apples i get at costco for 7.50$.
This picture shows weston with his apple picking tool.
As we were leaving the house , weston stops in his tracks , looks confused for a second and then runs to the kitchen. He reappears and says "mommy i got my apple picker" It is a plastic strainer. HaHa pretty funny. But as Iam writing this I realize why he got that. The other day Pat was picking raspberries and he had a bowl to put them in. So I guess this is the bowl he thought would best work for apples.  He would grab a apple from the tree and quickly drop it in the apple picker and then approach Pat and dump it in the bag. We tried to tell him that he could just put them in the bag , but he wasnt having it. HaHa whatever makes you happy buddy! And if you are wondering where and what cutie little Nelson was up to while we picked, this next picture will let you know. It is such a perfect representation of Nelson. EATING!
He chomped that little apple to the core. He was having a blast!
Oh and 5 minutes into picking guess what time it was?????????
"Daddy I go PEE"
Of course you do Weston. as if we could do anything without you peeing a hundred times.
And  then we all got our CHOMP on! Very Crispy tasty apples.
It was a short lived adventure. It probibily only took maximum 15 min to pick. Then we jumped back on the wagon and went back to the store. We scored a bunch of fresh veggies and we had a very fresh muffin in the bakery oh and a jug of apple cider YUM.
Part of our fresh veggie score was a large spagetti squash for 1.50$. That is extremely cheap. I usaully pay much more at superstore!
So we had a very productive family day, despite the rain!Next year Weston will have to share his apple picker with Nelson. That should be pretty cute!
My little FAMILY rocks!
Thnx God!

1st Family Movie Night!

It's Friday night and we are all tired from the week. So instead of trying to work up the motivation/energy involved in creating a plan for going out tonight I decided to offically kick off  FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT. Ive been thinking about it for a while and thought Weston would love to lay on the floor in his bob the builder sleeping bag ( it isnt the greatest looking , bought it off kijiji and it now has a rip in it but he loves it) and eat popcorn with his mommy and daddy!
So I decided to kick off the tradition with one I knew he would  love!
Oh mommy a bob build movie?
So While daddy thru weston in the carwash ( the bath) I layed out the sleeping bag and his pillows on the floor and started the popcorn popping.
I came out of the kitchen and spotted my cute boys snuggling together waiting for the movie to start.
Notice how Pat is hogging the sleeping bag?

And then of course mommy wanted to get in the picture

And now the popcorn is here. Let the fun begin. ( The guys scarfed down that popcorn so fast i thought they were joking when weston said "all done mommy go make more". Um no Iam comfy on the couch now so there will be no more popcorn unless it pops itself! hahaha it took a few minutes of dissapointment over no more snacks before he was glued back to the tv!
Iam writing while they watch the movie and Iam very sleepy. Its only 7:15 on friday night and Iam trying to decide if it would be a good or bad idea to go to sleep soon. Pretty bad when a almost 3 year old can stay up later than me.( nelson is crashed in bed,. maybe he will join us next year)
Great start to the weekend!

BABY STEPS? yeh right! I want it done NOW

Well its 9:30am and we have been up since 8:00 am. I dont care for early mornings. With that being said we have had a long few weeks. 3 weeks ago tuesday ,I got fed up of Weston dragging himself mopeing around the house with his eee hee ( soother) and his blanket. At this point it was suposed to be only used for bedtime and not to leave his room. But lately is was as thou it had been appearing alot and it was getting out of hand.. I had origanally intended to get rid of the soother last year but someone suggested that maybe he wasnt ready for it so i let it go. So my new plan was to talk up his 3rd birthday and how how he was going to be a big boy and big boys dont need soothers anymore.
Well we didnt make it to his birthday cuz mommy got fed up. And when mommy gets fed up look out for quick extreme solutions.
I had heard about the paci fairy idea ( not going to happen) not a fan of fairies nor do I think my boys should be. And so i hit the internet to see if there was any clever ideas that would soften my approach of cold turkey, Scream it out for a few days and then its over. I read that u can cut the tip of the soother and gradually cut it right off.. and the child will loose interest apparently.
So after a long day out with Grammy and the boys I was ready for action. I had , had enough of my cranky mopey little boy.
So I set out on a search of all his eee hee's and grabbed the scissors while Grammy dsitracted him in the other room. I snipped off a tiny bit of the tip on all the onesIi could find. And strategically placed them back where I found them.
Just a few minutes later my very cranky boy went on the hunt for his eehee. And mom Grammy and I snicker and just sit and wait. Oh he's found one and in it goes. wait for it , wait for it. Oh there it is. Confusion!!! He tries again. Then pulls it out and with his confused scrunched up face he says " MOMMY ITS BROKEN , YOU FIX IT!So the loving caring mother I am , I look at him just as confused and say "oh really thats wierd! Grammy and I exchange a quick laughter filled glance and try not to burst out and ruin the whole thing. So in  following along with the plan I ask him what he would like me to do to fix it and he suggests tape. . So I go and grab a roll of packing tape and get to fixing the" eee hee". Well after a few short minutes of taping and weston watching very intently I hold up the finished product! Oh man it took everything i had not to completelky loose my composure. It was so ridiculous . I had put tape all over it and Weston looking

satisfied took it from me and gave it another try!
Nope weston didnt feel like that fixed it properly so he hands it to me and says " MOMMY U GO TO THE STORE AND BUY ME NEW ONE"
Well after explaining that big boys dont get to buy new ones he went back to playing without his" eee hee".
To not drag this story on to long I can sum up the rest by say that " Snipping the ends of was amazing. He napped without even mentioning his "eee hee " which if anyone knows weston knows that , that is pretty much a miracle. The next day he gathered all the "eee hee's" he could find and by himself he placed them up on his shelf to never be touched again.
So now to get back to the ( shuddering ) early morings that i truley despise. Prior to the destruction of the "eee hee'"s weston was a great sleeper . We on average only got up between 8-9 sometimes even as late at 9:30 am. ( part of that time weston played in his room quietly til I got up)( I on average only go to bed at 1am becuase I love the quietness of the house and i can get things done, hence the late rising) He would sometimes wake up early morning between 6-7 when pat was leaving and call for Daddy to help him find his "eee hee" that was usaully lost within the covers and once it was safely returned to his mouth he would crash back out.
Well for the past few weeks post "eee hee" , weston has not gone back to sleep after his early 6 am rising. So he would just be freaking out in his room wanting to come out . I would then go talk to him and get him some puffs( snacks) and put bob build on and tell him i would be back in a bit. Then I would climb back in bed and realize I had to go to the bathroom extremly bad and was now wide awake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So after a few weeks of pure frustration I layed in bed yesterday moring at 6am asking God to change this for me becuase I cant start my day that early . I just dont think it is necessary and honestly it just wasnt going to happen. I just didnt know the solution yet. But now I lay in bed with a pillow over my head, ready to explode, dramatically begging God to  " Make it stop , please make him go back to sleep , help me find a solution please please please. "
Now to some of you reading you may be thinking that isnt that what mothers do? They get up at the crack of dawn with their children. HAHA Not this mommy.I believe in setting the rules in my house and I get to determine what time we start our day. so if my boys dont want to sleep til 8 then you can quietly  play in your room until then.
So where was I ? Oh right Iam pleading with God for my sanity and asking Him for what felt to me like a miracle..........
Arrrrggggg I roll over and remove the pillow from my head and reluctantly glance up at the clock. I do a double take because I thought it said 8:30. Wait a minute it does say 8:30 . WOOOHOOO.
It had been 2 weeks of weston getting up early and carrying on extermly loud until we were all awake and frustrated with each other.
Now that my friends is one of the many reasons why I LOVE my GOD.  He is concerned with the things that concern me!  this is defiantly a relationship I can get on board with and explore !
